A trio of Latine siblings reunite in their suburban hometown following a family tragedy causing them to confront their ignored culture, past failures, and hidden secrets.
In this family drama, the patriarch of the Castillo family, Manuel, passes away leaving his wife and three children to grieve his loss and confront the family’s secrets. We are first introduced to Daniela Castillo, an aspiring writer whose return home forces her to reconnect with her mother after years of being estranged. Daniela is used to living behind an emotional wall that she felt forced to build after a perceived betrayal by her father ten years prior. Her older brother, Raphael, runs a marketing company in the city with his partner in work and life, Ben. When it’s Raphael’s turn to
return home, he hides his true self behind bravado and wealth, terrified to disappoint his family. His twin brother, Gabriel, is harboring his own secrets as well as a simmering resentment at being the sibling left behind to look after the parents. The ever-stoic matriarch, Magdalena, is struggling to process the loss of her husband while also secretly speaking to a stranger from the family’s past. These issues collide as the family struggles to reconnect in suburbia ending with a stranger about to reenter the family’s lives just as the siblings finally begin to get along.
